| An Educational Experience!
Lake Champlain Ferries welcomes school and educational group
visits. We are proud to be a part of Lake Champlain history
and are happy to share our unique and fascinating story with
the community. To make your trip as safe and as fun as it
can be we ask that all groups follow these guidelines:
Reservations: "It
helps us to know you are coming." Please call
our trip coordinator, Betsey at 802-864-9804 or email her
at Groupvisits@ferries.com
to make a reservation for your trip.
Rates: A number of variables
determine your rate. Please contact Betsey 802-864-9804
or Groupvisits@ferries.com
for more information. We generally offer
a 30% discount to school groups high school age and younger
with a reservation.
Chaperones: For your safety, we
ask that you plan on one (1) chaperone for every six (6) students/children.
It is beneficial to our crew, passengers and your group that
chaperones take an active roll in the supervision of their
assigned children. No student is permitted to be out of eyesight
or earshot of a chaperone.
Boat Capacity for children: The
capacity of each ferry at the Burlington-Port Kent crossing
is 50 children under 90 lbs. The
capacity of each ferry at the Charlotte-Essex and the Grand
Isle-Plattsburgh crossing is 80
children under
90 lbs.
Arrival Time: Please arrive 20
minutes before your scheduled departure so our
Dockmasters can make sure all passengers have a ticket to
board the ferry.
Safety & Comfort:
1. We strongly recommend children wear closed toe rubber
soled footwear (preferably sneakers); sandals and flip-flops
are not recommended. Chaperons are encouraged to check students’
shoelaces to ensure that they are properly tied.
2. Please watch your step when walking through the vessel
doorways, they generally have high doorsills.
3. Students must never run while on board a vessel or at
the ferry dock.
4. Personal belongings must be attended to at all times.
5. Please be respectful of our other passengers. Help us
share the boat
with our friends.
